Playing with your baby or toddler is not only important for bonding but is also an educational experience for your child. We are providing a special time for you to come to the library and spend one-on-one time playing with your little one. A different community resource professional will be available each week to answer your parenting questions during playtime. Playtime will be followed by a short storytime just for you and your baby.

This is a recurring event and takes place every Tuesday in November.

Reading and Homework Help
Practice makes perfect in sports, and the same is true in school. Research has shown that the best way for children to improve their reading, math, and science reasoning skills is through practice. Children are invited to practice reading with one of our volunteers or to get help on their homework. Parents or caregivers may sign their children up 30 minutes before the program starts.

This is a recurring event and takes place on Tuesdays during the school year. Call the library to inquire about scheduling during school vacations and school closures.

Citizenship Classes

Classes are discontinued through December, we apologize for the inconvenience. As an alternative, Metropolitan Library System also offers citizenship classes at the Edmond and Southern Oaks Libraries.
Do you want to learn more about becoming a U.S. Citizen? The Village Library will be hosting free weekly classes to explore the steps of the naturalization process. Tutors will be available to provide lessons on English and civics as well as answer any questions on your path to citizenship.

Classes are provided by the OCU TESOL program and supported by funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, through the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.

Youth ages 9-14 will learn coding and computer programming skills, and use those skills to create their own games and projects! No prior coding knowledge is necessary.
This is a 6-week course and participants are expected to participate in all 6 sessions (11/7, 11/14, 11/28, 12/5, 12/12, 12/19). They will have Chromebooks and Wifi hotspots checked out to them for self-guided learning between sessions. Registration is required.
