Tango for Teens

Learn the fundamentals of technique and social etiquette of the national dance of Argentina, Argentine Tango. Classes will start out with simple walking exercises and work up to commonly used figures on the social dance floor. Attendees are recommended to wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement, ladies: heels with straps and no rubber sole and gentlemen: dress shoes with no rubber sole.

This is a recurring event and takes place every Friday this October at this library. Participants are encouraged to attend every class.

Community Nutrition Education Program

El programa de educación nutricional (CNEP) es un programa gratuito de la Extensión Cooperativa de la Universidad Estatal de Oklahoma (OSU). Si usted tiene asistencia alimentaria como SNAP o WIC es elegible para inscribirse. El programa dura 9 secciones de 1 hora, hablaremos de nutrición, aprenderemos recetas nuevas, y cocinaremos algunas de estas. También ofrecemos una evaluación nutricional comprensiva gratis que le dará herramientas para comenzar a cambiar sus hábitos y a reforzar los positivos que ya tiene. 
Temas incluyen: 1. Planificación y preparación de comidas saludables, como hacer un menú y lista de mercado 2. Mi Plato y los diferentes grupos de alimentos 3. Como leer y entender las etiquetas de los alimentos 4. Cómo tomar decisiones inteligentes desayuno 5. Seguridad Alimentaria 6. Comer más frutas y verduras 7. Hacer rendir el dinero destinado a comprar de los alimentos. 8. La elección de bebidas saludables 9. Tamaño de las Porciones Durante la primera lección se les pedirá a los participantes hacer un inventario de los alimentos consumidos en 24 horas para saber que comieron el día anterior. Esta información será utilizada para ayudar a los participantes a establecer metas y aprender lo que pueden hacer para mejorar sus hábitos alimenticios y su salud.

Babysitting Workshop

Join us for an overview of caring for children of all ages and how to make your babysitting experience safe and fun. Each participant will create and keep a “Babysitter’s Bag,” containing activities, free books, a first aid kit, and other essential items for the children you babysit. An afternoon snack will be provided. The class will be taught by Lisa Hamblin, 4-H Family and Consumer Sciences Educator.
